Introducing Simona Vanth
The new women’s shoes collection combines contemporary design by young designer Simona Citarella and the best of Italian manufacturing.
The SS 2012 debut collection is entitled “Primitive Plastique” and refers to international customers who can appreciate cutting edge design with top level crafts. The collection is inspired by primitive shoes and
the origins of men, the discovery of metals, basket-weaving, beautiful Etruscan Vases and manufacts.
In designing the collection, Citarella wonders about primitive minimalism of the ’60s and the ‘90s, with an eye set onto Gufram, whose furniture collection brings out the oxymoron of the visual and tactile
senses like in the famous multiple of stone seating stools.
The protagonist of the collection is a 21st century castaway woman, lost on an island full of magic minerals and ancient rituals, using rough and ancestral materials as hemp, vegetal calf and contemporary
performing materials like neoprene and plastic.
Every season Simona Vanth will be the catalyst between fashion and the designer passion for contemporary art, inviting artists to create art-usable pieces.
For this first collection she called the talented Manon Beuchot AKA Babyscotch, the Parisian illustrator
that experimented unusual knitted pieces such as cars, motorcycle helmets and penis. She boasts collaborations with Jean Charles de Castelbajac, Fisherspooner and editorials on TheStandard Magazine, Playboy
